RJ Decker season 2 premiere date to be earlier than expected at ABC

A matter of weeks ago, there was no guarantee that an RJ Decker season 2 was even going to happen at ABC. Now, we are in a spot where we could actually see the series back this fall!

Today, the network revealed their official schedule for later this year, and the Scott Speedman drama is going to have the great opportunity to air following new episodes of Dancing with the Stars 35, something that all things considered, is a pretty great lead-in. This is a timeslot that High Potential performed really well in its first two years on the air, and the idea here may clearly be to allow the show to get some sort of boost.

Does this guarantee that RJ Decker will be a breakout hit moving forward? Not exactly, but we do view it as a unique opportunity for the Carl Hiaasen adaptation to really shine at a time where viewers could be looking for something in this vein. Its only real competition will be NCIS: Origins, especially since NBC does seem to be committed still to using their Tuesday nights for NBA basketball.

In general, our sentiment is that the second season is really just going to build on some of the action, drama, and character development that we had in season 1, while also being a cool and relatively breezy place to spend an hour. It is almost bizarre to compare a broadcast network strategy to a cable channel from twenty years ago, but we really do think that ABC is looking to adopt some of the blue-sky mantra that USA had back in the day with shows like Monk, Psych, and Royal Pains.

If there is any one thing we can hope for now regarding an exact premiere date, it is that we are going to know it during the summer.
