Is NCIS: Origins new tonight on CBS? We know that last week ended in particularly shocking fashion with Gibbs and Lala. It seems like we could have some time to watch the two of them actually be a couple, which almost never happens on the flagship series. The problem here, of course, is knowing that the relationship does not last … and the reason why is still somewhat of a mystery.

What is not a mystery, however, is the schedule for the immediate future, as well as the fact that there will be no installment on the air this week. While the other shows in the franchise are still airing, this one is not, with the simple reason being that last week was the season 2 finale. You will see Austin Stowell and the rest of the cast back for a season 3, though there are a couple of caveats to know about in advance.

1. The timeslot – It has been nice to get NCIS: Origins on the air a little bit earlier in the night for season 2, but that is not something that will last. Moving into the fall, it is actually going to air at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, following both the main show and the New York spin-off that is going to bring back LL Cool J front and center as Sam Hanna.

2. The episode count – The third season of the prequel is currently set to only have ten episodes. For those who do love living in this world for an extended period of time we imagine that this is a bummer. However, there is a small silver lining here in the fact that it will allow potentially for some more serialized arcs — and to do things different from the rest of the franchise.
