Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight on HBO? We have been rather lucky to get several episodes of the late-night show so far this year and because of that, we would not blame anyone who is out there eager for more.

So are we about to get that? Well, here is where we have both good and bad news, depending on your outlook. The good news is that 100% yes, there will be a new installment of the show on in a matter of hours. However, it will have a later start time in 11:21 p.m. Eastern time than most others you have seen all season. The reasoning for this is actually tied to everything else on the schedule tonight, as you have Euphoria and then finales for both Rooster and The Comeback — and those always do tend to run a little longer than your standard episode.

As for what Oliver is poised to deliver on tonight’s new episode, there is no official synopsis at the time of this writing. Yet, we tend to think that we’re going to see something that is formatted rather similar to what we have over the years, mostly because this is a show that arguably knows what it is more so than almost any other out there in the genre.

What do we hope to see?

At this point, it really comes down to either a gag, an interview, or something that allows Last Week Tonight to become even more than what we know it to be: An audacious and well-researched look at important topics in this country. We do want to see the series continuing to push itself a little bit more and stray from its comfort zone. It may be weird to say that about a series that has routinely won Emmys, but here we are … still saying it.
