FROM season 4 episode 4 cliffhanger: What’s in the lake?

We went into FROM season 4 episode 4 on MGM+ this weekend certainly expecting something big at the end. After all, we are in a spot now where that may happen at almost every turn! This is a show that needs to give some answers but in some ways, we tend to be as befuddled as ever when it comes to the Ethan-centric ending to this week’s installment.

Consider for a moment here what we actually saw — or, what we think we saw. Tabitha’s son traveled out with her and some others on a food run, where he was convinced that they would initially come across the Lake of Tears. He even brought a wounded bird with him, thinking that it would somehow serve as a sort of healing. Well, something did happen once the two turned up, as the closing seconds signaled a mystery object / objects being pulled out of the water.

What was it? At first glance, it looked like it may be trash, but there’s a chance that it could be the remnants of people who came there before. Given how dark this show tends to be, we have to imagine the worst and yet, we would love for there to be at least some sort of clue as to how to escape the town.

After all, consider the following with Ethan for a moment: He has had more optimism than most older people in the town. Also, given how much children have factored into FROM ever since the beginning, you can make the case here that a child would be more in-tune to what can actually be done here than almost anyone else. This is something to at least consider but even if Ethan does somehow have the right mindset on things, people believing him is something totally different. That has always been one of the central struggles at the heart of the show.
