The Boys season 5 episode 7: Who could kill Homelander?

We recognize that The Boys season 5 episode 7 is the penultimate one of the series and by virtue of that alone, the stakes are higher than ever. Homelander is now immortal, after all, and could go on a killing-spree rampage like we have never seen on this show.
Yet, despite all of this, we still believe he could be stopped — though there are very few suspects. Unless you somehow believe that the V1 did not take, there are only two people who feel like they have a legitimate chance of taking him down … or at least helping.

Without further ado, let’s get into that below…
Soldier Boy – This is the obvious candidate at this point. Given that he can take his powers away, this would allow him to be vulnerable to some other attack. The problem is that he’s the who just made him immortal. Why would anything change at this point? It would have to be an event that radically alters his ideology in a short amount of time.
Marie Moreau – Here is where things get complicated. Would it be satisfying if a character from a canceled spin-off in Gen V is responsible for Homelander’s death? We can’t get aboard that train, as much as we like Marie as a character. However, we could see her being a reason why he is eventually killed, given that she could theoretically remove the blood from his bloodstream, allowing him to be vulnerable for at least a short period of time. This could work effectively as a part of a team-effort ending.
Who delivers the final blow?
Really, we still want for either Butcher or Hughie to be the one who actually takes Homelander out — though ideally the latter, since he feels like more of the true hero. The only way we’d get behind Billy is if it is a case of mutually-assured destruction and his death actually helps some other characters.
