‘The Newsroom’ season 2 spoilers: Olivia Munn charts future for Sloan
In just a matter of six days now, “The Newsroom” will be back on the air for its second season. So what does this mean for Olivia Munn’s character of Sloan? Basically, it means another opportunity. For her, the first season was about her coming somewhat into her own more as a news personality, but also taking her lumps courtesy of a trolling story that Neal was working on and confessing her feelings to Don, who did not exactly reciprocate them.
Like many other stars from the show this week, Munn is in the process of doing a publicity tour; and in this case, her travels have led her to “Live! with Kelly and Michael.” In an interview on the show Monday morning, she did her best to explain the story that could be coming up for her this year:
“Last year she got to really show her journalistic integrity and you really get to see how she is really this moral compass for the group. And this year, she gets more involved in news stories and starts to push for her own stories [such as] the government’s anti-terrorism policy. And [there’s] also this great friendship with her and Charlie, our boss, and this big brother / little sister relationship with Will [McAvoy].”
We’d love to see Sloan find some more success and notoriety for herself on a public level this season, mostly because thus far we feel like she is one of those characters with the most accomplished resumes out there, but has yet to fully get her due.
What do you want to see unfold for Sloan this season? We want to hear some of your thoughts below, and if you want to check out some more video coverage of all things related to “The Newsroom,” you can do so over at the link here.
