As many of you are more than likely aware at this point, the upcoming The Way Home season 4 is going to be the final one at Hallmark Channel. So how exactly is the story going to wrap up?

Obviously, there are more challenges tying together stories on this show than most. That makes a lot of sense when you do consider that time-travel is a huge part of the story. You want a satisfying conclusion emotionally, but we’re not sure that you can ever answer every single question.

So is it possible that the series finale is not the end? Well, there are no plans for a season 5 for now, but executive producer Alexandra Clarke recently suggested to TV Insider that a few threads could be left open:

…I think, again, one of the things that our show does is even when we do provide answers, there’s always a question mark at the end of those answers. Those answers beget questions. And I don’t think our finale will be any different, but there certainly will be answers, and hopefully satisfying ones. That’s the whole point.

Our general feeling is that in the end, we just want Kat and everyone close to her to be happy. That is enough for a satisfying conclusion, along with her having a number of answers in regards to her past. We can still imagine a post-finale world in which her and the other characters do continue to still use the Pond in some capacity, but it may not be as essential to their understanding of their world. So much of the first three seasons, at least, have been spent better understanding their family history.
