The Capture season 3 finale: The Rachel – Gemma Garland ending

Entering The Capture season 3 finale on BBC One this week, it absolutely felt clear that we were going to be getting some sort of surprise ending. So with that, what did we end up receiving?
Well, let’s just say that in its totality, the show brought to us another reminder of the tole the job has taken on Rachel Carey. The good news for her is that both she and Abigail are safe and when it comes to the main conflicts at the heart of the series, there is an element of closure. However, at the same time there are still questions, including what was happening with that visual of Gemma Garland in the final seconds.

Is Rachel starting to lose her mind, or is someone manipulating her devices? We tend to think personally that this is the former, mostly because The Capture as a series is not one that often chooses to specialize in delivering some sort of jaw-dropping cliffhanger. We tend to think that this is more of the producers playing around with form and giving us an actual, visual reminder of just how messed-up her brain really is after what she has gone through.
Also, we do not think the producers are going to be that quick to set up a season 4 given the sole fact that historically, this is one of those shows that makes you wait an extremely long period of time between seasons as it is. Our hope is that if or when season 4 comes around, it will be after Rachel finds a way to better cope with everything that she’s gone through. Based on where things currently stand, we aren’t quite sure she will be able to handle the job in any other way.
