‘American Idol’ notes: Candice Glover’s album date, Stefano news, and tour drama
We’ll start this edition of “American Idol” notes with what has been a story many have been waiting to hear more about over the past several weeks: When Candice Glover’s debut album “Music Speaks” is actually going to come out. When Fox first announced her as the winner, they shocked us and many others by saying that they were going to actually have this disc out by July 16.
Well … that’s not going to happen. Rumors of a delay have been surfacing for weeks on end, and today she confirmed that the disc will actually be in stores on October 8. Is this bad news from a waiting standpoint? Sure, but it may actually be smart for a few of reasons: It gives her more time to work on the music, it is closer to the holiday season, and this release window has worked well for past winners. Scotty McCreery went platinum with “Clear As Day,” and Phillip Phillips is close to doing the same thing with “The World from the Side of the Moon.” We all know that Candice is a killer singer, but she needs a great single and a promotional push to sell albums.
Stefano’s change – It also looks like there are changes for a former contestant from a couple of seasons back. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Stefano Langone confirmed that he has dropped 19M and Redlight as his management, and will now be representing himself in order to make the music that he wants to produce:
“Truth be told, I had left 19 back in January of this year … It really just came down to one thing: my vision — what I wanted to do and the amount of time that we were actually engaging with each other. I rarely ever talked to 19 Entertainment about anything relating to my career and where I wanted to go.”
Stefano confirmed that he is still with Hollywood Records, and he also expressed some concern that his two major singles in “I’m On a Roll” and “Yes to Love” were too similar to everything else in the marketplace. (We really enjoy the latter song still, cheesy as it may be.)
Curtis Finch says… – Finally, go ahead and have a little bit of fun with this following bit of evidence from the season 11 star that this tour this summer is going to be ugly:
“Its sad that I’d rather hear you talk than sing….When the truth of the matter is, you cant do either … Who voted for you?! LIKE REALLY?!”
It’s obvious who Curtis is talking about, but for us the biggest issue that we have with these kinds of comments is just that this sort of dissension is why so many people hated this season. Why make it worse on yourself when you don’t have to?

When I saw Curtis’ comment on Twitter I knew exactly who he was talking about. Unreal how unsavvy that was. Have fun on tour! I had planned on going to a tour show with my daughter but she said did not want to go any longer because she said most of the ‘so called idols’ are full of themselves. I got rid of the tickets
