Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight on HBO? Make no mistake that it has been rather nice to have a steady run of episodes ever since the premiere. Is that about to be changing?

Well, in a word, yes. To put things simply, the late-night show is finally entering a hiatus this week but there is also a really understandable reason for it. With this being Easter Sunday, there are a lot of viewers arguably doing other things and this is suddenly about to be less of a priority.

Of course, rest assured that Last Week Tonight will be back, and you do not have to spend a lot of time worrying about a hiatus that lasts for several months. However, there is no planned episode for April 12 either at the moment, with the network planning to re-air the much-anticipated Euphoria season 3 premiere instead. Could you make a case that the network would be in good shape giving Oliver some of that lead-in audience? Sure, but at the same time, here is your reminder that this show is not exactly lead-in dependent. It generates a lot of streams from HBO Max after the fact, and that is without even mentioning those who choose to watch some of the main segments on YouTube.

If there is one thing we can certainly share with some confidence, it is simply this: There is absolutely going to be a lot more content for Oliver to focus on. Based on the way in which the news cycle works these days, it is almost impossible to imagine where we are going to be in two weeks, let alone just a matter of two days.
