2013 Teen Choice Awards analysis: Demi Lovato takes on Cat Deeley, Heidi Klum

Teen ChoiceThe Teen Choice Awards have been known to have some pretty unusual categories over the years, but we really have to say at the moment that this whole Choice TV Personality (Female) is one of the strangest. You have someone who is going to win this vote by a landslide, someone who is a sideline reporter at sporting events, and also a woman who has only been on her show for a little over a month. For all of you conspiracy junkies, it’s also curious that three out of these five women work directly for Fox, and one of the other two works on a show executive-produced by a Fox personality in Simon Cowell.

Regardless of your take on this category, we want to hear about your favorites below! Plus, you can click here to take a full look at everything else that we have profiled in our TCA preview series. For voting information, head over to the show’s official site.

The nominees – Erin Andrews (Fox Sports), Cat Deeley, “So You Think You Can Dance” (Fox), Heidi Klum, “America’s Got Talent” (NBC), Carrie Ann Inaba, “Dancing with the Stars” (ABC), Demi Lovato, “The X Factor” (Fox)

The favorite – We personally find it hilarious that even the TCAs are trying to forget that this past season of “American Idol” ever happened; and with that being said, this is going to be a big win for Demi, and it won’t even be close. She has a huge teen following, and they will all vote for her in droves. We know that people do like the other nominees, but “Dancing with the Stars” has an older viewing audience, and neither Cat Deeley nor Heidi Klum are people that strike us as having the mobilized internet support that will shoot for this award. They are more likely to look at the Emmys. Erin, meanwhile, is watched mostly by older men.

Who should win – Demi’s really a fine choice, given that “The X Factor” does have a large teen voting audience and she helped to make an otherwise dull panel interesting. We’d go with her or Cat, who allows for some light and shade on a show that could otherwise feel disjointed in going from a serious routine to something silly.
