‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Who from ‘The White Queen’ could be 12th Doctor?

Doctor WhoWhen you consider how many times that we have heard actors say that they have no interest in taking on the title role on ‘Doctor Who,” we like to do our best and highlight some of the people who actually seem to want to give the role as Matt Smith’s replacement a shot. It cannot be an easy part to want to take on, but we still imagine that the rewards that could come as a result are rather intense.

So who is boldly proclaiming that there is a certain level of intrigue in the role? While he is not openly campaigning for the part, Aneurin Barnard of “The White Queen” has at least admitted that playing The Doctor is the sort of opportunity that most people would love to be considered for. Just check out his comments per the Radio Times:

“[It] seems like a very good, fun job to be involved in … It’s one of those roles that has lived through time. It’s an endless tale and what’s interesting about Doctor Who is it can go in any direction at any point and every Doctor is taken very differently. It’s a great piece of storytelling and you can have a lot of fun with that.”

One reason that Barnard could be a solid candidate for the part (aside from the talent) is that he’d have an opportunity to work reasonably close to home, given that the show tapes its episodes in Cardiff. There are not many jobs of this caliber in the world of television that allow you to also stay so near where you are originally from.

What do you think about this idea? We have more “Doctor Who” teasers over at the link here, including a video clip about something rather mysterious related to the Fourth Doctor in Tom Baker.
