‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Ian Somerhalder arrives back in Atlanta

Ian SomerhalderFor those of you anxious for the start of “The Vampire Diaries” season 5 production, here’s some good news for you: The cast is slowly starting to descend back on their home city of Atlanta. Nina Dobrev has already spent some time there after a lengthy vacation across multiple continents, and now Ian Somerhalder has done the same thing after going everywhere from London to Germany to Italy this summer doing some work on new projects and attending fan events. (Hopefully, there was also a little bit of relaxation thrown in there for good measure.)

Just for confirmation that Ian is in fact back in the United States, just check out what the actor had to say in a new post on his Twitter account:

“Wheels down, feet on American soil! An intense [and] amazing experience; 3 continents, 8 countries in 2.5 months – thank you world for being so good to me”

In case you are wondering why Ian chose to travel so much at this time, the simple answer is that he is probably aware that there will not be that many opportunities available for him to do so in the near future. Just look at his production schedule now, which includes multiple months of “Vampire Diaries” shooting with little breaks here and there. Typically, filming runs for this show from mid-July until around either the end of April or early May, depending on the episode count and whether or not there are any production delays.
