‘Dexter’ season 8, episode 2 preview: What lies ahead for Jennifer Carpenter’s Deb

Before we say anything else about this “Dexter” season 8 clip, can we start things off here by discussing just how awesome Sean Patrick Flanery is in the role of Jacob Elway? There are so many things that we like already about this private investigator storyline, from his attitude to the fact that his office looks completely unlike what you would expect it to. It almost feels like the sort of clean-white Utopia that you’d see in a pharmaceutical company, lined with a number of fake hopes and dreams.

In this particular scene, Jacob comes down on Deb hard, knowing that she is someone that he takes a certainly level of responsibility for; so to see her not deliver when it comes to retrieving the stolen jewelry, and to have the very man that she was hunting end up dead, is the worst-case scenario on a list of possibilities that probably were not even taken seriously.

To make matters even worse for Jennifer Carpenter’s character here, it really does not take much time at all for Jacob to figure out everything that went on between Deb and her mark romantically, all thanks to the way in which she referred to their living space. She’s going to have a very difficult time digging her way out of this hole, and the best thing for her could instead be just picking up another job and moving on.
