‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Good news for Paul Wesley fans

Paul WesleyFor anyone out there who feels like “The Vampire Diaries” is at its best when Paul Wesley has something to do, you are probably feeling already like season 5 is going to be one that makes you smile. We are going to have a real opportunity to see the actor take on more than just his all-familiar character of Stefan, and do so in some ways that are certainly surprising. After all, we assume now that you are just starting to let it simmer into your head somewhat that this actor is going to be playing not just the Salvatore vampire, but the real version of Silas himself as a doppelganger.

So when was this idea first conceived? For more on that we turn to Caroline Dries, the executive producer that will have an even larger role in this season with Julie Plec going between this show and “The Originals.” Speaking to TVLine in a new interview, here is what she had to say on the subject:

“We knew when we started the [fourth] season that we wanted Silas to be like the original Original – almost like the devil, in a way … [In season five], we’re going to explore this phenomenon of the doppelganger and how any why they exist in our mythology and what we actually mean for Stefan and Elena (Nina Dobrev) and everyone else. He is such an awesome actor, that we were like… how can we see more levels with him?”

As for how long it will take Stefan to escape from his current prison to confront Silas, it is hard to imagine that this is a story that will explode onto the scene early on.

What do you think: Is season 5 turning out to be a big one for Stefan? We want to hear your thoughts below! Also, if you want to read some more headlines of all things related to “The Vampire Diaries,” you can do so by visiting the link here.
