The Traitors US season 4 episode 8: What will Candiace do?

In just two days we are going to see The Traitors US season 4 episode 8, so why not have a conversation about Candiace Dillard Bassett? Through most of the first seven episodes, we really have nothing but constant praise for her game. She managed to get through the conga line without serious detection — sure, Rob Cesternino knew something was off, but he was murdered right after. She has been able to operate largely off the radar, even when her fellow Housewife in Lisa Rinna was taken out.

Now, however, we have to get to the polarizing decision by her to vote for Rob Rausch at the last roundtable. We understand the thinking behind it — she did not want to look suspicious for voting out another Housewife. Meanwhile, you can argue that it was a warning shot at Rob, one that says that if he goes after her, she will take him down at the same time. Rob seems to be aware of what she’s doing, and could this set up a Traitor vs. Traitor showdown?

Well, here is the where we stand with Candiace. She likely knows that Rob can’t immediately come for her now, since he’d either be suspected of a Traitor or just targeting her because he is petty. She could try to mount a campaign now against him, but would he then go against her? Even if she wins, she’d have way more heat on her after the fact. There is also the question of if she has enough possible allies left — Tara and Johnny feel like people she could work with, and then there is Dorinda. Finding enough votes to go at Rob just doesn’t feel like an option … for now.

The irony with the whole Candiace / Rob situation is that for each of them, the move right now may be to just link back up and ride this out. She has to be okay letting Lisa go but at the same time, Rob needs to be okay with Colton getting potentially banished. The move buys both Traitors another week and really, trying to make it to the end has to be top priority for them both. We’ve seen way too many instances of Traitors going after each other too soon.
