Is there a chance that we are going to learn more about a Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2 premiere date between now and the end of January? Well, if nothing else, there are reasons to discuss the show’s future a little bit more than ever before this week.

For those who have followed the series along over the last year, you know that it has been a pretty tumultuous ride. There were questions about the new cast, but we learned that Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher was signed on to be the female lead alongside Mark Eydelshteyn. However, that was before season 1 showrunner Francesca Sloane departed for a new deal elsewhere, which has led to her writing the first episode of a potential Big Little Lies season 3. This means that the action-drama-comedy series needed someone else to take the reins.

Here is where we do have more news to share today. Per a report from Deadline, Anna Ouyang Moench has been brought in here as a showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the series moving forward. The plan at present seems to be having the second season kick off production in the spring of summer, so we have here what amounts to the first substantial update on the show that we’ve had in a long time. This in itself is worth celebrating, no?

Ultimately, this is most likely all of the news that we are going to get on the show this month. Since filming has yet to even start, it feels ridiculous to even assume that we are going to learn about a premiere date anytime soon. Our hope is that we’re going to see it back in the first half of 2027, but assuming something beyond that feels more than a little bit ridiculous.
