‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Delving into something different

The Walking DeadWe’ve learned quite a few times over the years that changing things up from the original source material can be a bit of a risk. (For more on that, just look at the criticism that “Under the Dome” received from some of the Stephen King’s fans.) However, it can also merit quite a few rewards. It creates an element of surprise for even the most loyal of readers, that way even they do not know for absolute certain what is going to happen at any given moment.

This is the sort of feeling that the writers and producers for AMC’s “The Walking Dead” seem to be interested in creating as they move into the show’s fourth season, at least based on what we are hearing now. Speaking in a new interview with SFX, Gale Ann Hurd explained how difficult some of the moves that have already been made were, including the tragic death of Andrea:

“If we make a decision to kill off a character, whether it’s from the comic book or not, we do try to put a twist on it … When Andrea dies, Michonne is incredibly affected. They all get to see the effect that she’s had.

“Her death has an effect on them that we’ll see resonate through this new season. We also introduced new characters last season, and we now have an opportunity to tell their stories … To delve into the characters of Tyreese and Sasha – characters that were introduced last season.”

We should find out quite a bit more shortly when it comes to the future of many of these “Walking Dead” characters, and it’s all thanks to the season 4 preview weekend that AMC is setting up for the show. This is one of the first real opportunities we’ve had to see the show highlighted in a multitude of ways, along with getting some behind-the-scenes footage.

How many liberties on “The Walking Dead” are you really okay with seeing? If you have yet to read up on a mysterious new force on the show in “Don,” all you have to do is check out the story that we’ve published over at the link here.
