NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9 delayed at CBS; why?

For those of you who may have expected to see NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9 tonight on CBS, you may be disappointed by the latest news.

What is going on here? Well, according to a report from TVLine, the episode “South of Nowhere” has been pulled from the schedule, and there is not a specific date as to when it will now air. Our personal sentiment is that this decision was made in reaction to the recent tragic shooting in Australia; we have seen CBS and other networks previously do things like this in response to real-world tragedies out of sympathy for those involved.

If you have not seen the NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9 synopsis, you can take a look below:

“South of Nowhere” – The team races to an Antarctica research base to investigate why a climate scientist killed a colleague on Polar Night Eve – and make it out before their plane engine freezes and they’re trapped in darkness for six months, on NCIS: SYDNEY, Tuesday, Dec. 16 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ Premium plan subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*.

As for the rest of the franchise…

There is an episode of NCIS proper still airing tonight, which is slated to be the final one of the calendar year. Meanwhile, Origins has already aired what you can consider to be the fall finale — the plan is for those shows to return in February after the Winter Olympics, and we tend to think the same will be said for the Sydney show. The only remaining mystery is whether it returns slightly sooner to air episode 9 or if things are changed around with the schedule a little bit later on down the road.

Of course, we will have more information on this subject as it becomes available. Stay tuned, and of course feel free to share what you think about the NCIS: Sydney change in the comments.
