Survivor 49 episode 9: Who was voted out?

Now that we’ve made it through the events of Survivor 49 episode 9, it does feel like it is time to have a Rizo conversation. Is he setting himself up to be one of the best players of the entire new era?
Well, let’s just start things off here by noting what we saw within this episode. On paper, there was no real reason for people to keep him, or at the very least, allow him to have an idol at this point in the game. They all know he’s got it, just like they all know that he is really close to Savannah! Nobody else is clearly going to be his #1, so what is the point in all of this? Well, a lot of it comes down to him continuing to leverage his social game for his personal betterment, and we saw him work really hard this week to ensure there was a target on Alex, a smart player he realized was trying to play all sides. It cements further why it was so smart for him to forgive both Jawan and Sage for the blindside on Nate.

Not only does Rizo come out of this episode with his idol intact, but he also managed to get out his biggest threat in the game — really impressive stuff. Both Sage and Jawan took to the bait, and Savannah has also made some major inroads with Sophie! Doing all of this feels like a major mistake for some of these players, but here is where you must remember that none of them are actually aware of how Savannah has an extra vote or Sophi the Knowledge is Power advantage.
The problem that all of this creates now is that with just eight people left moving forward, there is no way to do a split vote the same way as you could! Rather, you have to just hope that you can get Rizo, Savannah, or Sophi out even if the idol is played. this is why the MC vote makes even less sense in retrospect.
