The Morning Show season 4 finale: Is Celine gone?

It does feel like in the wake of The Morning Show and its season 4 finale at Apple TV, there is a lot of aftermath to sift through and questions to ask.

So what is a big one at this point? We really do not think it is all that complicated — it is tied to whether or not we’ve really reached the end of the story with Marion Cotillard as Celine. It feels like the character has retreated and gone back to France, but is she actually done? We’ve seen with Jon Hamm and Steve Carell that there is potential for certain characters to come back after an initial arc, even if the return is rather short-lived (as it was with Carell). We do think that the writers are doing their best to keep some options open, while also closing some arcs so that each season feels somewhat like its own thing.

Speaking to Deadline, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt noted that the story for Celine may be done at present … but that does not necessarily mean that she is gone forever at all:

In terms of the immediate storyline, I always say if a character isn’t dead, they could always come back anytime. We do tend to take leaps in between seasons just because of the time it takes to write and shoot the show. So, for the moment, Celine may be doing penance at the family home and having a bit of a leash on her for the time being.

Our hope moving forward is simply that the writers constantly make you wonder if certain characters are going to be coming back. Despite news being global, it can be a rather small community when it comes to the people on top. This does create more unpredictability, and certainly keeps some options open.
