Slow Horses season 5 episode 4: Is Gimbal dead?

We had a feeling entering Slow Horses season 5 episode 4 that stuff was going to hit the fan. So, what exactly transpired here?

First and foremost, the show may have just killed off one of the most important characters this season. However, what actually happened was somehow hilarious, dark, and insane at the same time. JK and River were tasked with watching Gimbal as Slough House was concerned about the next stage of the destabilization plan. They watched him get into it with a rival campaign manager; then, the communication with River and JK went haywire as eventually, a paint can was knocked off from the scaffolding. Gimbal suffered a massive blow to the head and by virtue of that, he is gone.

The idea of Gimbal being dead presents a pretty enormous challenge to JK and River, since they have to figure out how to handle it. Do they blame someone else, claim it was an accident, or simply just pawn the responsibility off to Lamb? It also does not help at the moment that JK doesn’t seem to be that bothered by anything at present.

If there was another bit of irony thrown into all of this, it was getting a chance to see Claude actually take down Gimbal before all of this happened. He actually managed to dig up a lot of information about his past that he would not want anyone to learn about.

Based on what we’ve seen so far…

Let’s just go ahead and say that this has been one of the most entertaining seasons so far. It has been nice to see a lot of Slough House working together, rather than being split off in various places.
