ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3: Assorted words from Bellamy Young, Tony Goldwyn
These two interviews were done with GoldDerby as a part of their Emmy preview series, and “Scandal” is one of those shows that could be a serious darkhorse in the drama series category. The Emmys love breakout hits, and this clearly has that status; plus, they also like to occasionally have us remember that network TV is out there, and some of it is actually rather good.
As for whether or not this onscreen husband-and-wife pair have any real chance at getting some love from the awards show, it’s going to be tough. Goldwyn has to compete against the likes of Aaron Paul, Peter Dinklage, and a number of his own co-stars including Jeff Perry and Guillermo Diaz (the most-likely actor to likely earn a nomination). Meanwhile, Young is going up against several “Downton Abbey” ladies, Anna Gunn, Archie Panjabi, the ladies of “Mad Men,” and some assorted competitors. Regardless of if they get nominated or not, this will be an entertaining race to watch.
In getting back specifically to “Scandal,” Goldwyn and Young will both be back at work next month on the show’s third season, which will premiere on ABC in either late September or early October. While Shonda is staying mum on details, it should not take long for us to see what happens next with Fitz now that the secret of his affair with Olivia is out.
If you want to read even more about how Young prepares to play the Mellie role, just check out her recent and very in-depth interview on the subject over at the link here.
