Australian Survivor: Australia vs. the World episode 5: Who was voted off?
We should begin our piece on Australian Survivor: Australia vs. the World episode 5 by noting something simple: There was no way this could’ve lived up to episode 4. Not only did that episode bring us the Tony boot, but all the ensuing chaos with his sock idol and his last-minute attempt to get our Parvati.
Episode 5 did bring us some excitement, mostly thanks to the merge and a split vote that led to Sarah’s ouster from the game. Still, didn’t this feel like the calm before the storm?

Ultimately, what this episode gave us really was the best of certain players and the flaws of others. Parvati and Cirie managed to use both Shonee and Kirby for this vote, showing that they can adapt. However, we also were reminded that Kirby is not as aware of Parv and Cirie’s strengths as she should be — she prides herself on being a bit of an outsider to the community but when that happens, isn’t it possible to still get played? Still, this feels like this could be the first season that Cirie could actually win, but that is dependent on finding a way to get Parvati out — something that is easier said than done when you consider the current level of power she has.
Entertainment wise, seeing Luke and Parvati go at it during the auction was a highlight. Losing Sarah at this point is sad, but in all honesty, she is the least notable of the contestants remaining from the Aussie tribe. Not only are people like Luke and Shonee bigger personalities, but we’ve also seen stronger moments in their games. This is setting up to be somewhat of an unpredictable merge, but the major question is still whether or not anyone will have a chance to stop the new iteration of the Black Widow Brigade.
