‘Bunheads’ season 2: Sutton Foster on renewal hopes, Emmy odds, and musicals

Sadly, it seems as though series star Sutton Foster is as in-the-dark as everyone else when it comes to the network executives’ thought process. In a chat with GoldDerby, who frequently conducts such interviews in preparation for the Primetime Emmy Awards, Foster waxed poetic about her time on the show, and while she would clearly like to go back for more, she seems prepared for whatever the powers-that-be decide:
“In this business, there’s a constant [feeling that] you don’t even know … It’s the same in theater. There’s so many factors that go into everything. More than anything I feel incredibly proud of what we put out there, and if this is the only season that we get, I could not be happier with what it turned out to be.”
Personally, we read into this that Foster has the sort of mindset that she is expecting the worst, that way she can be pleasantly surprised if a renewal happens that works in her favor. The small chance that she has of scoring an Emmy nomination could actually play a role in saving the show, given that ABC Family is not exactly a network known for getting any awards-show buzz; therefore, you almost have to root for her more than any of the other nominees given how much could be on the line with it.
Meanwhile, if you want to compare the recent ratings of some of ABC Family’s new shows directly against “Bunheads,” our advice is to view the article here.

Besides promoting other shows on their social media platforms, leaving the incredibly talented cast in limbo, and simply just giving the fans of the show no news whatsoever – in the ever so slight chance that Bunheads does somehow survive this strange purgatory, it will have been absent from screens for so long that the ratings will inevitably tank and it’ll be cancelled anyway. I’m incredibly disappointed in ABC Family.

Renew it already!!! Don’t let Bunheads be the next Arrested Development, canceling it before it’s time is done!
