‘Glee’ season 5: Chris Colfer joins ‘Castle’ season 6, ‘Dallas’ season 3 stars at ‘Star Wars’ relay

Chris ColferWhile you have likely heard the sad news already that “Glee” season 5 will not have a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year, at least one of the show’s stars is still going to be in the city … but probably not in the way in which you would imagine. Instead, we are going to have an opportunity to watch Chris Colfer wear a “Star Wars”-themed costume and take part in a relay race across much of California leading up to the convention’s location.

In case you haven’t heard much about this event, “Course of the Force” is the name of this relay, which is put on as a production of Lucasfilm and Nerdist Industries. This year, the course starts up at Skywalker Ranch north of San Fransisco, and has a number of various stops along the way before eventually arriving in San Diego. One of the biggest rules of taking part in this event? You have to wear some sort of “Star Wars” costume, and you pass along a lightsaber as a part of the relay.

While there are countless participants, some of the celebrities taking part this year include “America’s Next Top Model” winner Adrianne Curry, “Dallas” season 3 star Jordana Brewster, “How I Met Your Mother” guest star and “Angel” alum Alexis Denisof, and “Castle” season 6 star Molly Quinn. We have to imagine that besides being a big “Star Wars” fan to take part in this, that you also have a big heart for charity given that all proceeds from the relay go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Colfer will be back on the “Glee” season 5 set in a number of weeks to officially start filming, and the same can be said here for Quinn. Meanwhile, Brewster will return to “Dallas” a little later in the fall.

Does this sound to you like the most awesome way to combine geekiness and athletics ever? We certainly think so. We also have a cool video featuring Colfer’s onscreen love interest Darren Criss (Blaine), and you can view it over at the link here.
