Task premiere date, trailer, new details revealed at HBO

After making us wait a really long time, the folks at HBO have finally lifted the veil on their next big project in Task. So, what makes this one stand out?

Well, first and foremost, they are banking hard on the fact that this comes from the same creator as Mare of Easttown, hoping that there is a great deal of credibility that comes from both that and also Mark Ruffalo as one of the leads. This is a gritty crime drama that at the same time, is meant to be based on emotional characters and human interaction above all else.

Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).

Our hope here is just that this is one of those shows that does give us a chance to have some real discussions every single week, even if it is only going to last for a short period of time. On the other side of it, after all, is a more high-profile HBO drama in Welcome to Derry, one that we anticipate there being a premiere date for at some point moving forward.

We will admit that perhaps the strangest thing with Task is simply that the network waited so long to share anything about it at all…
