‘The Good Wife’ season 5 spoilers: Meet the new Kalinda love interest

After last season’s Kalinda love story with Nick nearly ended up derailing “The Good Wife” as we know it, the writers were smart enough to kick the story to the curb when it wasn’t working and moved on. From there, ironically most people felt like the rest of season 4 was among the best things that the show has ever produced. Is it possible that the bad storyline that proceeded the change had something to do with the reaction? Maybe.

For now, the following news that Kalinda has a new love interest has to be met with some sort of mixture of excitement and trepidation. The great news? That it’s someone different, and not a man with anger issues. The bad news? It’s still a Kalinda romance story, and the most-recent one was bad.

According to TVLine, British actress Juliet Rylance has managed to continue the major trend these days of Brits finding big roles on American shows, and she will be playing the part of Holly, an Assistant State’s Attorney that has some sort of extensive history with Archie Panjabi’s award-winning character. She will be recurring throughout season 5, which leads us to believe that we will first meet her pretty early on in the story.

The only part of this story that has us a little nervous is that, like Nick, there is history here between the two characters. However, the other way to look at this is that Rylance is a different actor, and therefore brings a particular set of skills (just to sound like Liam Neeson in “Taken” for a minute) to what she decides to do.
