‘Modern Family’ season 5 spoilers: Court ruling could lead to Cam / Mitchell wedding
Could real life finally work its way into the world of “Modern Family”? Based somewhat on what we are seeing now courtesy of a Supreme Court Ruling, it’s definitely possible that we could finally see a wedding take place between California residents Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), who of course have been previously unable to celebrate such a union thanks to the ruling surrounding the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8.
For more on this subject, just turn to executive producer Christopher Lloyd, and what he had to say as a part of a brand-new interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“It’s a real possibility … It’s certainly something we are contemplating on the show in ways we wouldn’t have in prior seasons … We’ve had a number of conversations. As you can imagine in Cam and Mitchell’s life, they would be feeling that a door has opened that was closed to them. Wouldn’t it be pretty tempting to think about walking through it? We imagine a lot of gay couples today are deciding whether to get married now that it’s open to them. From our standpoint, that’s something to explore.”
This is clearly not confirmation of anything, but it should give Cam and Mitchell fans some hope. Everyone among the show’s faithful have been wanting to see it happen. The two are likable, clearly want to get married, and America has embraced them in a way that they have not always done so when it comes to issues of equal rights.
Now that we do have this ruling, do you want to see a Cam / Mitchell wedding happen? We want to hear your thoughts below! Also, take a look here if you want to see more about this show and its popular hangout: The Emmys.
