NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 2 spoilers: An investigation and suggestions

HannibalBefore we delve into this article, a brief public-service announcement. If you haven’t had an opportunity to see “Hannibal,” stop reading now. Also, stop reading and go find the show so you can start watching it. It’s rather fantastic, and you can say thanks later.

Now, we turn to the scoop at hand: Trying to determine whether or not there is someone beyond Will who could start to turn on the lights a little bit when it comes to what Lecter is actually up to. Considering that Dr. Du Maurier is a smart woman, it only seems right that she would be the next person to start to raise an eyebrow, right? Executive producer Bryan Fuller agrees, which is why he says the following in an interview with TV Guide:

“She doesn’t know any more than the other characters … [But, she is] starting to suspect. She’s a very insightful lady, and she’s seen enough in the past few episodes to realize that there is much more going on here than Hannibal is letting on. [We’ll] see her conduct her own investigation.”

As for what form that will take, we expect something of the slow and methodical route, given that she is not going to open her eyes during the season 2 premiere and see everything through a new lens. These things take time, and it is about the thrill of the chase as a viewer. Be on the lookout for it.

We want to close this article by talking about what is going to be a valuable mission for Fannibals over the next few months: Telling people to find this show and watch it to get the ratings up for next season. NBC’s official site has the most-recent three episodes, or you can buy the full season on iTunes or wait until the DVD comes out. Regardless, it’s a show that is short enough in episode count that your friends, family, and neighbors you barely know should be able to dive in quickly. Rather than waiting to the midway point of season 2 to start campaigning hard, why not get a little proactive? Sometimes it takes a little effort to keep your favorite show safe.
