‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Michael Garofola, Ben Scott get nasty over ‘son’ debate

BenLadies and gentlemen, may we present to you a guide to the best way to completely ruin your chances of ever going far on “The Bachelorette.” The two exhibits that we are looking at right now? Let’s just say that they go by the names “Michael Garofola” and “Ben Scott.” One guy put himself on a pedestal with his son, whereas the other seems more interested in ruining the other guy’s chances than being with Desiree Hartsock.

Who knows what Michael was really thinking? There is a part of us that wonders whether or not he knew in getting the two-on-one date that he really had no chance at all of winning in the end, so he wanted to go ahead and try to ruin Ben on national TV. The most awkward part of this is how he blasted Ben as an “absentee father” over not calling his son Brody since arriving in Germany.

Do we agree? It’s unfair to say. Production will allow you time and opportunities to speak with your kid, but you have to ask for them, and it often has to be at a time that’s convenient for them, given the amount of money that it costs to make a show. Germany’s also a seven-hour time difference ahead of where Ben lives in Dallas. So who knows? Maybe the times he was available were times when Brody was asleep, or out during the day. We don’t want to sit here and say that the guy is perfect, since he didn’t have to go in a dating show in order to meet somebody, but to say that he is evil incarnate or an “absentee father” (as Michael calls him) is a bit of a stretch.

Regardless, we would send both of these guys home if we were Desiree. Ben’s clearly doing something to annoy the other guys, even if it’s getting blown out of proportion on the show; meanwhile, Michael clearly has other priorities.
