‘The X Factor’ USA: Demi Lovato issues first statement on father Patrick’s death

At this point, you have likely already heard the devastating news that Demi Lovato’s estranged father Patrick, who she wrote about in song, passed away recently after what we believe to be a battle with cancer. As a result of this news, the former Disney Channel star (and current judge on “The X Factor” USA) was inundated with trending topics, kind tweets, and messages of support from collaborators, fans, fellow judges on the show and people who are not even her fans.

So what does she have to say back in response? A heartfelt expression of gratitude for what has to be a difficult time in her life. In a post on Twitter, Lovato shared the following message following the end of the weekend:

“I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers.. God bless you all, thank you so much ❤”

It is still not clear if this tragedy is going to impact Lovato’s current path on the Fox singing competition, but the dates are spread far enough apart for now that she should have an opportunity to grieve properly. Lovato’s personal struggles have been public for many years now, stemming from her sudden decision to enter a treatment center years ago following an incident during a Jonas Brothers tour in South America.
