Paula Deen, Matt Lauer will have ‘Today Show’ standoff, after all

Today ShowAt the moment, Paula Deen has to be rather thrilled that Matt Lauer and “The Today Show” are the forgiving type. While the producers of the NBC morning show could have been very quick to turn up their noses at the recently-dismissed Food Network chef, they have decided instead to give this another go on Wednesday morning.

While on the show today, Lauer confirmed the news that Deen will be back for a live, sit-down interview that airs on the show Wednesday morning. She has already stated that she will not skip out on her appearance like she did this past week, and you have to imagine now that the line of questioning could be even more rigid than had she agreed to actually do the interview in the first place.

Ever since it was first revealed last week in a deposition that Deen had used racial slurs years ago following an incident that she had before finding fame as a celebrity chef, most of her culinary empire has started to fall apart at the seams. In addition to losing her three Food Network shows, Deen has lost endorsements, fans, and even QVC is considering terminating their relationship with her (as she previously sold cookware on the network).

At the same time, there have also been some other personalities who have defended her, including former Food Network personalities who claim that she is not a racist person, and that she was being honest about unfortunate things she said decades ago rather than her thoughts in the present.

Regardless of how you feel about Deen, the way in which this scandal has progressed has almost turned this entire ordeal into must-see TV when it happens Wednesday.
