‘The Voice’ UK ratings rise as Leah McFall soars, Jessie J ponders future

The VoiceFor the first time in around three weeks, the folks over at “The Voice” UK finally have something to be excited about: The ratings not being completely horrible for a week! So how did the show manage to pull this off? They went back to Saturday night after a week of being on Friday, and they also did not have to contend with some heavy competition courtesy of a certain other show in “Britain’s Got Talent.”

Overall, the show Saturday drew a total viewership of 5.81 million, which is its highest viewership in several weeks. Some analysts overseas are also citing the success of Leah McFall, one of the few artists from the show to have a hit on iTunes, as one of the reasons why. She is clearly not only the frontrunner right now to win the competition, but she is who the show needs to win in order to have a chance at really having a star down the road. While we like Matt Henry, Andrea Begley, and Mike Ward, we can’t see any of them winning as the sort of thing that is really going to suddenly give the show credibility as a producer of top-level talent.

Meanwhile, Jessie J is also unsure about her own future on the show as a coach,  and she told the Daily Star that she will figure out whether or not to do another season based on what her schedule looks like the months ahead:

“If I can do another series then it would be great but if I can’t because of my schedule then so be it … I don’t think people realize it takes up a lot of my time. Everything happens for a reason. I don’t know what I’ll do – at the moment I’m focusing on this series.”
