‘American Horror Story,’ ‘The Killing’ alums join Lifetime’s Lizzie Borden biopic
The latest Lifetime movie is not only covering an interesting topic in the infamous Lizzie Borden trial, but we have to give the network some credit for some great casting. After being long maligned for some of their TV movies (including the unspeakably awful “Liz & Dick”), the network really seems to be casting all the right people for this project.
You may know already that former “Pan Am” star Christina Ricci has landed the role of Borden, but now we have a pair of other interesting castings to share. We begin with Billy Campbell, who is following up his stint on “The Killing” as Richmond, and his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in Nat Geo’s “Killing Lincoln,” with a role here playing Borden’s attorney Andrew Jennings. It’s another opportunity for the actor to play a unique and different character, though there is a part of us that will always remember him the most from his time on USA’s “The 4400.”
Meanwhile “American Horror Story” alum Clea Duvall (who played the tragic girlfriend to Sarah Paulson’s Lana on the “Asylum” season) has been cast as Emma, Borden’s sister. This casting seems perfect given that there are some physical similarities present between the two actresses, and we hope that this means that there is some more strong casting like this on the way.
Lifetime really has quite a bit on their plate right now as not only is there the Lizzie Borden biopic coming up, but there are multiple series on the air now including Jennifer Love Hewitt’s hit “The Client List,” which has not yet been renewed for a third season.
