‘So You Think You Can Dance’ review: Hampton ‘Exorcist’ Williams out after car accident
We admit that the Vegas round of “So You Think You Can Dance” is probably one of our least favorites of the entire competition, and there is a very specific reason for it. We struggle at times to really keep up with all the names that are thrown at us. We barely came to know some of these people during auditions, and then they are all handed to us with as much effort as possible to make them distinct. It just doesn’t always work.
The other sad part of Vegas for us? Many of our favorites often end up going home, since they are unique dancers that don’t often have the skill to do everything. Hampton Williams, who still has one of our top five favorite auditions ever on this show, was unable to perform thanks to a car accident. Tragic that this is where it ends for him two straight years, especially since we know just how hard he’s worked at this. We hope that he does come back at some point, but for now we just have to think about him and wish him a speedy recovery. His Facebook page says that he is in physical therapy now following severe injuries, and he really has dance to thank for his speedy recovery.
Another favorite we lost this week was Mongolian bowl dancer Shanshan Qiao-Rothlisberger, who seems like such a nice person and really worked hard at trying to further herself in dance. She says that she will be back, and that is very good news to hear.
As for the contestants that did advance, Nico Greetham, Curtis Holland (the tapper), Amy Yakima (a dancing dad victim), and a personal favorite from last season in “krumper” Mariah Spears are all moving on. We don’t honestly remember the rest of the names yet, but we hope to have them all down next week as we have the top 20 dancers officially unveiled.
