‘Bunheads’ season 2: Exec talks waiting on decision for Sutter Foster series
Over the weekend, we posted an article explaining how ABC Family was basically torturing not just fans of “Bunheads,” but also people on the show by basically putting a decision for season 2 on hold so they can see how their summer shows fare. As we said then, this has to hurt the most for some of the lesser-known stars on this show, especially since they don’t have the same opportunities to save up money before going to look for other work.
Sadly, we still don’t have much of an answer for you as to the show’s future. Speaking in a new chat with TVLine, consulting producer Dan Palladino (husband of creator Amy Sherman-Palladino) had the following to say:
“There’s no official word. But if Bunheads is not renewed, Amy and I are going to force Sutton Foster to work with us again, at gunpoint if necessary.”
We do actually think a decision will come pretty soon given that the series premiere of “Twisted” aired tonight, and it is probably the numbers for both it and also “The Fosters” that the network is really waiting to see. If those numbers stay strong for a few weeks, “Bunheads” could be in trouble. Otherwise, it has more of a shot. It’s pretty terrible that this is the competitive way in which this industry works, but alas here we are. We’re really just hoping now that someone starts up a massive Emmy campaign for Foster and creates so much buzz behind her that ABC Family would look foolish to not renew the show.
Stay tuned: We’re as interested in seeing a resolution here as you are, and we will have more news very soon. If you do want to read more on the “Bunheads” season 2 decision, all you have to do is click here.

Bunheads appeals to a wide audience. It’s so smart and funny and it would be a shame if it doesn’t return. Hope ABC Family gets their act together soon! If not, it would be great if Bunheads could get picked up somewhere else.

It is a great show. Good writing and excellent actors delivering the lines.

It is a hit show with a large following wanting it to return and they can’t make up their minds?

This is one of the best written shows on television. It is rare that a show can appeal to both parents and their teenage daughter. I hope that they do renew it soon. It seems like ABC Family would rather send a bad message to teenagers with shows like “Pretty Little Liars”, “The Lying Game”, and “Twisted”.

They really just need to renew it already. Seems more and more reasons keep popping up on why they should. They’ll get a huge tax credit of $5.82 million from CA for doing season 2, not to mention they just got the Thalo’s Critic’s Choice Inspiration Award at the Critic’s Choice Awards. Gilmore Girls didn’t have stelar first season ratings and look how far it came, they need to give it another chance.
