‘Mad Men’ season 6 spoilers: Matthew Weiner teases season 7 pre-production
Yep, this is the way that the TV business goes sometimes. Even though we are still a couple of episodes away from the end of “Mad Men” season 6, the producers of the show are already opening up about season 7, and what they want to do to push the story forward yet again.
So how far along is the pre-production on the next thirteen episodes? Not far at all. For more evidence of that, just take a look at what show creator Matthew Weiner had to say in a new interview with Deadline about the show:
“Not a word of it is written right now … I’ll be back at work in mid-July. The writers come in the beginning of August. And then we start shooting in October.”
So will season 7 be the end for the series? That much is still pretty unclear, but we know that this was originally the plan. Plus, if the show moves beyond this there would have to be all sorts of negotiations made between AMC and all of the parties involved, and if you remember just how long this took following season 4, this is definitely not something that we are altogether excited to see again. (AMC does a ton right when it comes to their programming, but they do have a history of making things a little bit difficult behind the scenes.)
Do you think that “Mad Men” season 7 should be the end, and are there any particular events you want to see covered before that end does come? If you want to read some more reflection on this past episode, and also a look ahead to the future, all you have to do is click here.
As you would expect, we’ll have more scoop on the final episodes of “Mad Men” this season as it becomes available.
