‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 4 premiere review: A Wilden shocker; plus, who’s in that mask?

Pretty Little LiarsFor much of the past couple of months, “Pretty Little Liars” creator Marlene King has promised that there would be some answers coming our way in the season 4 premiere. As it turns out, she’s hardly a liar at all.

The first major shocker is something that Rosewood has come to know quite a bit about already: Death. Who is the deceased this time? Detective Wilden, whose body was found not long after it was discovered that a pig was actually within the trunk of the car. Wilden passing away does mean bad things for Hanna’s mother, since she managed to have a pretty devastating secret.

Sadly, we did not find out for sure that Alison was Red Coat this week, but in between her mother showing back up and also the mysterious person in the mask at the end, the clues are definitely leaning towards her as a guilty party.

On the friendship front, there were some interesting developments as Hanna is trying to bond with Mona again! Well, sort of. There are some ulterior motives at play here, as she is rather desperate to ensure that Mona stays on their side, and is not trying to undermine them as she has over the past few years. The truth is, though, that for now the ladies do all have to work together if they want to have an opportunity to figure out just who “A” really is, and why they are being tortured.

As for the emotional moment of the week, who expected to get torn up over Toby’s past in such a short amount of time? We found this to be pretty heart-wrenching, especially since we’ve learned so little about his past over the years. It was a great episode, and we at least know a little more as to what we can expect in the weeks ahead.

What did you think about the “Pretty Little Liars” premiere? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Also, if you haven’t had a chance yet to catch some early scoop in regards to the “Ravenswood” spin-off, you don’t have to look any further than the link here.
