‘Continuum’ season 2 improves on Syfy, improving season 3 odds

ContinuumAs you may know already, “Continuum” has already been picked up for a third season by Canadian network Showcase. Sadly, this does not guarantee that the show will continue airing new episodes on Syfy in America, but the latest ratings for the show are definitely a step in the right direction.

In its new time slot of Friday night, the show managed to draw 1.42 million viewers for its season 2 premiere on Syfy and of this total number, over 550,000 people were within the 18-49 demographic. Both of these figures are higher than the first-season average for the show, and when you consider that the show is airing now on what has to be a much more challenging night of the week, it makes the achievement all the more impressive.

At the end of the day, we would be beyond surprised to see the show ultimately not be picked up for another season in America, especially when you consider one key part of the equation is cost. Since this show is produced completely in Canada, this does not exactly cost Syfy the same amount of money that it would to create and produce a show of their own. Therefore, it marks a way to get some “original” programming to Americans on the network, without having the negatives of having to develop it themselves.

Hopefully, Syfy will make a decision before it gets too long into production for the season, if for no other reason than that it really would help to ease the torture for fans of the series.
