‘Mad Men’ season 6, episode 12 preview: Does Betty (or Megan) know the truth?
While for the first 50 or so minutes Sunday night, “Mad Men” really felt as though it was inching along at a snail’s pace. However, that managed to completely change in a split-second courtesy of a reveal by Sally Draper: She saw Don and Sylvia in the throws of passion, and there’s no way to get that image out of her mind. It was a fantastic end to what was the show’s best episode of the season, as the tension was palpable in those closing minutes.
So what comes next? Next week’s episode appropriately has the title of “The Quality of Mercy,” which is something that Don is going to very much need if the wrong person finds out just what he was up to. The good news for him (if you can call it that) is that Sally didn’t tell anyone last week; the bad news is that we don’t trust her to keep a secret, especially since she is as volatile as a teenager can be.
Of course, give a round of fake-applause to AMC for giving almost nothing away about future events in the promo below, but there are still a few things that we take from it:
1. Betty is clearly upset about something related to Sally, and Don seems to be doing some sort of traveling with Megan again.
2. The employees of SC&P seem to be unhappy as ever, and at each others throats even following Don making peace with Ted.
3. Is Megan devastated, or is her facial expression at the very end here just meant to be a red herring? Oh Matthew Weiner, you’re such a tease!
