‘Falling Skies’ season 3 spoilers: A major change for Hal
On Sunday night, “Falling Skies” will be back, and there is one thing that is probably going to be rather apparent to you straight from the get-go. Many of these people are in very different situations than they were when you last saw them, and much of the reason for that is the simple fact that the show is jumping forward in time a massive seven months from one season to the next.
What are some of the changes that you will notice almost right away? For one, Tom is going to hold a much more impressive title than just a former professor, and he will have more on his plate than ever. Anne will be close to giving birth, and we are also going to learn that Hal is paralyzed. What happened here? While showrunner Remi Aubuchon is not exactly spilling all his secrets, he did tell TVLine that this is something that viewers will find out a little bit more about as the season progresses from one week to the next:
“We actually don’t do flashbacks on Falling Skies; it’s kind of one of [executive producer] Steven [Spielberg]’s rules. But we do allow the audience to catch up to what has happened. We know from the second season that Karen did something to Hal, and one of our last moments in the last episode is watching this thing crawl out into his ear. But what we don’t know is the consequences. What I’ve always loved about Hal as a character is that he’s quick to anger, quick to action and quick to love. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s decisive. He’ll step in front of a bullet for someone. He’s just a pretty good guy, and I loved the idea that he is suddenly faced with this horrible secret that he has inside.”
As for some other things you can expect, get ready for new characters, moments in which you may cry, and a new alien who will be able to communicate in a much more direct fashion with the humans (let’s all be thankful for that).
