‘The Carrie Diaries’ season 2 spoilers: More Samantha Jones

We’re still not sure how a Samantha Jones character is really going to work within a show like “The Carrie Diaries”. Her rabid sexual appetite is what made her such a fixture of the “Sex and the City” world, and how do you really replicate that on a network that does now allow for swearing and/or things that are very naughty? We have a feeling that this could be either a somewhat-different interpretation, that Samantha is somewhat different at an early age (even though she is quite a bit older then Carrie), or the character is twisted slightly for a CW audience.

We do have some more scoop now on the character’s upcoming appearance on the show, which will be airing on Fridays this fall. According to a new report from TVLine, producers are looking for a character who is confident and unafraid to take the bull by the horns … two attributes that are very concentrated on the sort of person that Samantha really is. Oh, and this character will also be a series regular, meaning that Carrie Bradshaw will now be spending a great deal of time with her (which means way more time in New York as well).

As for where she and Carrie will meet, we can’t give you exact specifics (sorry), but we do know that Samantha is not going to be the powerful PR maven that she later becomes. Instead, she will be working at a New York nightclub, trying to advance herself up the career ladder. So long as the series is an indicator (which it not always is), we may have an idea as to where this story could go. We’ll just have to see how it all plays out.
