‘The Originals’ spoilers: New trailer for ‘Vampire Diaries’ spin-off with Joseph Morgan

At this point, The CW is becoming very adept at finding new ways at promoting “The Originals,” even if they have no new footage at all as a means to do it. You would think that there would only be so many ways that they could package together footage to sell a show, but they keep finding new and interesting ways to figure it out.

So why all of the constant shifting around when it comes to the footage? The simple answer is as follows: While all of the other fall series for the network (“The Tomorrow People,” “Reign,” and so on) have all filmed unaired pilots, “The Originals” aired during “The Vampire Diaries” on April 25, and the cast will not be filming any new footage until July. The cast has however filmed some new promotional footage that will be coming out in the weeks ahead.

This trailer does at least provide some more insight as to what the key themes for this series are going to be: The relationship between Klaus and his siblings, his attempts to find love and respect through some of the others in his home city, and how he starts to grow accustomed to being a father … a role he never imagined that he would have in a million years.

As for the other Originals, they will have major storylines, as well … It’s just too early to know all of them for the time being.
