‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Damian Lewis unsure of how long Brody can live
Can the journey keep going for one Nicholas Brody? No one lives forever, and this is something that Damian Lewis’ character on “Homeland” could run into sooner rather than later. After all, there is a big part of us that is genuinely surprised that he is even still alive going into season 3, since the opportunity was there for Quinn to shoot him in the head during the finale this past fall.
So could we end up seeing the character facing death’s door during the upcoming 12 episodes? It’s definitely possible, especially based on what Damian Lewis had to say (per Hypable) while at the Cannes Film Festival this past week:
“I think Homeland can go on forever. Whether Brody can go on forever is a different matter. We’ll just play each season as it comes. Writers write themselves into interesting positions, sometimes not wholly expected positions. So it’s a continuing surprise for everybody.”
One of the interesting dynamics leading into the third season is just how long that the writers can really afford to keep Brody at bay in some unknown part of the world while Carrie and Saul continue to tackle terror in the United States. No one really knows where he is going to be filming his scenes, or what sort of characters he will be interacting with. Heck, producers have even kept any potential castings quiet that could have something to do with him, and we’ll have to wait until the premiere on September 30 to find out.
