‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Klaus, Caroline have a fan in Phoebe Tonkin

Candice AccolaLet’s all say it together: “Aww.” Even though Phoebe Tonkin’s character of Hayley may be having Klaus’ baby on “The Originals,” she still does not necessarily think that the two are the right match. Instead, she’s firmly behind shipping a couple that has been a fan favorite ever since those seeds of seduction were first planted over a season ago.

While at The CW upfront presentation last week, Tonkin, who is thankfully on the network’s payroll full-time again after “The Secret Circle’s” unfortunate cancellation, explained to Zap2It that she is very much on the Klaus / Caroline bandwagon, and does not expect there to be some sort of long-term romance for her part on the “Vampire Diaries” spin-off and Joesph Morgan’s character anytime soon:

“Can I go, first, on the record, and say Team Klaroline. Please. I’m on the team. I’m on the team! … I think that Hayley and Klaus got together not thinking it was going to go any further than that one night situation, and that’s life. Things come up. I think they’re going to deal with that, but I think it’s more about the child, and the issue of the pregnancy, as opposed to them being together in a relationship. I don’t really see that happening. But there’s a lot of other characters, and I’m sure Hayley will find someone to help her look after the child.”

Klaus and Caroline are sadly not going to have all that many opportunities to spend time together now that they are on separate shows. It’s feasible that they will figure out how to spend some time together here or there, but you still have to imagine that it will not be nearly as easy, especially when they have so many other scenes to shoot.

As exciting as “The Originals” is, this is not the “Vampire Diaries” scoop that is currently dominating the headlines right now. Instead, it is the talk that fanfiction for this show and others may now be monetized through a new Amazon service. It’s exciting, but at the same time frightening and poses interesting questions for the show’s creative force.
