‘Arrow,’ ‘Torchwood’s’ John Barrowman to host singing show; Lisa Rinna to compete

ABCWell, it really did not take Lisa Rinna very long at all to land a new reality TV gig following her fourth-place finish on “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice.” The former soap star, who also has “Dancing with the Stars” on her resume, will be one of the contestants on the upcoming ABC show “Sing Your Face Off.”

The premise of this show is silly, but simple: “Celebrity” contestants come on the show, and learn to sing the hits of someone else. Entertainment Weekly reports that “Arrow” and “Torchwood” star John Barrowman is going to be the host for the show, which is a little bit of a smarter choice than it seems given that he has hosted a number of shows in the United Kingdom. As for the judges, be prepared to groan: Debbie Gibson is back again (secretly we kinda lover her and have “Shake Your Love” on our iPod). She will be joined by Darrell Hammond of “Saturday Night Live.”

Joining Rinna on the cast list is going to be Jon Lovitz from “SNL” (who seems to have an in with Hammond straight from the get-go), Landry Fields of the Toronto Raptors (obviously looking for a summer job), China Anne McClain from “A.N.T. Farm,” and musician Sebastian Bach. It seems like the latter would have a natural advantage in the field of performing on this show, mostly because he is, you know, already a musician.

We don’t really expect this to be much of a hit, but to be honest, ABC probably doesn’t have that high of hopes either. It’s just a summer filler show in a genre that has been beaten to death, and they failed to launch something in “Duets” last year that had a much better panel of talent.
