‘Bates Motel’ season 1 finale spoilers: Moving forward into season 2

Are you ready for the end of “Bates Motel”? We’re certainly not, given the fact that it was only nine weeks ago when we saw the show first grace the A&E stage. We’ve gotten to know Norma and Norman Bates in an accelerated period of time, trying to figure out what makes them tick in enough time for their harrowing circumstances to make sense. In between some shocking deaths and a few extremely uncomfortable scenes, we’ve found a way to make it happen.

But by the time the show’s second season begins, where does the show go? We already know how the story of Norman and Norma ends, and there has already been so much ground covered. Unfortunately, one of the people responsible for this creation is not exactly willing to say too much on the matter for now. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Kerry Ehrin had the following to say:

“I can’t tell you how it sets up the central mystery for season two without telling you too much! The season finale is a fantastic coming together of story lines that illuminate mysteries about the who these people are and what the town is truly about at its core. It’s a beautiful, suspenseful and volatile episode!”

Maybe we can close this off with a very familiar line from these parts, and it doesn’t matter whether or not your show is all about killers in the making. The finale is often seen as a bridge between one season and the next, and the shocker / cliffhanger is just the building block to get you there. That is why these episodes are almost impossible to speculate on, especially in the case of serialized shows.
