‘American Idol’ finale: Angie Miller, Adam Lambert, ‘You Set Me Free,’ and Jessie J?

You Set Me FreeIs there anyone who is bracing to be as lucky during the “American Idol” finale Thursday night as Angie Miller? Even though she may have finished the competition in third place, the young Christian music singer has an opportunity here to really take the world by the storm.

First, there have been the rumors burning bright for several days now that she is going to be performing a duet with season 8’s Adam Lambert, who has admitted publicly to being a major fan of her soaring voice. Meanwhile, Mjsbigblog is reporting that there is a massive heap of buzz surrounding the possibility that Jessie J could be flying in from England (where she has been working on the country’s version of “The Voice”) to perform something with her. This is far from confirmed, and we do wonder what would happen, given that it’s pretty rare that a contestant would have a chance to actually duet with a pair of different singers.

The only thing that comes as a little bit of a surprise is that for whatever reason, Angie is no longer performing her song “You Set Me Free” on the finale, despite the single art above and the song debuting on iTunes tonight. Why wouldn’t they want her to do this? It would have been a bona fide way for her to sell a good chunk of singles, and instead we’re going to have the top 5 guys (otherwise known as the afterthoughts) performing a song that will probably go nowhere, given that Lazaro Arbos probably won’t remember the words to it.

The Band Perry and Psy are among the confirmed artists for the finale, and there are rumors surrounding Jennifer Hudson, as well. Mariah Carey and Keith Urban will hit the stage, meaning that Nicki Minaj is the only judge unaccounted for.
