‘The Vampire Diaries’ finale spoilers: A Paul Wesley – Ian Somerhalder tease

Ever since the infancy of “The Vampire Diaries” as a series, one question has been thrust into the forefront: Are we going to see the love triangle between Damon, Elena, and Stefan have some sort of conclusion? When Elena at first picked Stefan, we thought it was over. Then, we thought she was with Damon for a while when the two slept together. Then, we were very confused when the whole issue of the sire bond comes up.

But who is Elena going to potentially choose on the finale Thursday night? There will be some groundbreaking movement in this story, but it may not happen in the way in which you would expect it to. As a matter of fact, executive producer Julie Plec says in the video below via TV Guide that one of these three characters played by Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, or Ian Somerhalder is going to finally decide after all of these years that they’ve had enough with the craziness and the uncertainty, and try to move forward with their lives.

Interestingly enough, a case could be made for all of them. A single Elena would surely mean the Salvatores having to find themselves and work on their relationship as brothers. Meanwhile, Damon could revert back to his old womanizing ways if Elena picks Stefan, and Stefan could really try to find himself if he was in a rare position where he did not have to continually worry over Elena’s safety anymore.

We’ve had questions when it comes to this show for longer than we can really remember … so isn’t it time for some answers?
